Hey, everyone. I recently bought a 2013 Audi A5 2.0L and it came to my awareness that it’s leaking oil, as soon as I drove it off from buying it it said no oil. I hada few people checked it out. Apparently it’s leaking from the timing chain cover, as there was silicone and the oil is going through it. A timing belt is made of a rubber compound while a timing chain is made of chain similiar to a bicycle chain. A timing belt wears out over time and must be replaced at the manufacturer's specified interval. ayj4yA. Re: A6 2.7 TDI V6 - Cambelt or chain? – 06-01-2009, 02:12 PM. If you are referring to a BPP engine code then there are four chains one for the balance shaft and oil pump, one to feed the the two cam idlers and one to feed each cam, and a toothed belt driven Injector pump. It's not a big deal to get that replaced. It is indeed a cam chain at the back of the engine on the 3.0 TDi and should never need replacing unless you have a major problem. – replace only the V belt for the compressor drive l 75K only: 3.0L TFSI only Snow Screen for Air Cleaner – clean l A4, S4, A5, S5 and A6 only l A4, S4, A5, S5 and A6 only Fuel Filter – remove water l Audi Q7 3.0L TDI only – replace l 55K only: A3 2.0L TDI only l Audi Q7 3.0L TDI only 115K only: A3 2.0L TDI kgthomas. 84 posts · Joined 2016. #2 · Jun 15, 2016. Audi recommend 135000 miles or 5 years for changing of the cam belt. Make sure to get the water pump and tensioners etc changed at the same time. I usually do a fan belt at the same time also. Life is too short to sweat the small things :wink2: S. sam1970 Discussion starter. Changing the timing chain might be major surgery since it is betweeen the block and tranny now. I saw one video where they split the old chain and attach the new chain to feed it through from the top but I am not sure that works with all motors. I believe Audi drops the engine trans and separates them to do chain replacements.
